DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY,
FEBRUARY 29, 2016
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners
met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 in the
Conference Room in the Commissioners’ conference at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Commissioner Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Ryan Mack and
Thomas L. Kime, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie
Metz, Clerk.
Russ Herman, Defiance County Prosecuting
Attorney’s Office, met with the Commissioners to discuss various pending and
imminent legal matters.
The Commissioners met in General Session and
approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The
Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming
meetings.
The Commissioners approved the contract with
Midwest Contracting, Inc. for the Exterior Improvements to the Defiance County Courthouse
project, which calls for the project to be completed within 243 days.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide a weekly update
and for the bid openings for 2016 Crushed Aggregate and 2016 Bituminous
Materials. Bids for the 2016 Bituminous Materials were received from Asphalt
Materials, Inc., K-Tech, and Wright Asphalt. Bids for the 2016 Crushed
Aggregate were received from Custar Stone Co., Stoneco, Inc., Stafford Gravel, and Hanson Aggregate. The
Commissioners took the bids under advisement and will award at a later date.
Greg Reinhart and
Janalee Rethmel, Defiance County Wastewater Operations, met with the
Commissioners to provide a monthly update. Greg reported billing out $65,691.34,
collecting $65,818.89, and having expenses of $32,980.22 in January.
Vickie Myers,
Defiance County Treasurer, and Jill Little, Defiance County Auditor, met with
the Commissioners to approve and sign $27,017.41 in bond anticipation notes for
the Flory Road Tile Project.
The
Commissioners, Warren Schlatter, and Jill Little met
for the organizational meeting of the Defiance County Transportation
Improvement District.
Tim Houck and
Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Landfill, met with the Commissioners to
provide a monthly update. Tim reported sales of $279,661.18 from 8,571.42 tons
and 31,291 cubic yards in January. This compares to sales of $293,073.77 from 8,829.93
tons and 31,708 cubic yards in January, 2015.
