The Board of Defiance County Commissioners
met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2017 in the Second
Floor Conference Room of the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court Street,
Defiance, Ohio 43512. Commissioner Ryan Mack called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Gary Plotts
and Mick Pocratsky, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and
Stephanie Metz, Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and
approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The
Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming
meetings.
The Commissioners certified the January Solid
Waste Disposal Submittal Forms for the Landfill facilities. Defiance Township,
as the host government agency received $2,343.16. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR)
also received $1,290.72 for the construction, & demolition debris
(C&DD) waste. Monthly (MSW) Disposal fees paid to the Ohio EPA for the
Defiance County Landfill was $33,577.05. The Four County Solid Waste District
received $12,182.11.
The Commissioners attended the Defiance
County LEPC Tabletop Exercise at the Defiance County EMA Building.
Members of Auglaize Village met with the
Commissioners to provide an update. They stated that they are currently raising
money for repairs to the Natural History Building, which formerly was used for
the CCC (Civilians Conservation Corp.) and the POW (Prisoner of War) Camp. They
also plan to have the Firehouse completed in time for the first show.
The Defiance County Employee Banquet
Committee met with the Commissioners to provide an update.
Cindy Mack, Defiance Development &
Visitors Bureau, met with the Commissioners to provide an update.
On Friday the Commissioners will be attending
the Career & Technical Education Month Luncheon at Four County Career
Center.
The Commissioners’
Office recently received the January 2017 report from
Cecilia Parsons, Defiance County Recorder. Cecilia the following instruments being
recorded: 120 deeds, 242 mortgages, 117
releases, 6
power of attorneys,
1 plat and 1 lease; this compares to 123
deeds, 134
mortgages, 116
releases, 4
power of attorneys
and 2 leases in January, 2016. There were
receipts of $24,062.00,
of which $11,733.00
went to the Housing Trust Fund and $9,869.00 went to the
General Fund. This compares to receipts of $20,803.50 in January,
2016,
of which $10,107.50
went to the Housing Trust Fund and $8,771.00 went to the
General Fund.
