The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017 in the Second Floor Conference Room of the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court Street, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Commissioner Ryan Mack called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Gary Plotts and Mick Pocratsky, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met with representatives from the City of Defiance for a monthly update meeting. The following topics were discussed: walk/bike paths; Land Bank; blighted homes and commercial properties; housing projects; Brownfields; economic development; and Hire Road overpass.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Jamie Walters, Defiance County Apiary Inspector, met with the Commissioners to discuss a Community Apiary. The Commissioners requested additional information from Mr. Walters before they will make a decision regarding this matter.

 

The Commissioners held a meeting of the County Elected Officials.

 

There are still openings at the Early Childhood Screening scheduled March 6, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Defiance Family Christian Church (1834 E. Second St.). Appointments are required and take one hour approximately. Screenings are not for children who will be entering kindergarten or currently enrolled in preschool through your local school district.
