The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017 in the Second Floor Conference Room of the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court Street, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Commissioner Ryan Mack called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Gary Plotts and Mick Pocratsky, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.
Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer met with the Commissioners to provide a weekly update for the Engineer’s Office and a monthly update for the Landfill.
Jerry Hayes, Defiance County Economic Development Director, met with the Commissioners to provide a monthly update.
Greg Reinhart, Defiance County Wastewater Operations, met with the Commissioners to provide a monthly update. Greg reported the following items being completed in February: adjusted float and worked on air pump at Defiance County Auglaize River Pump Station #7; installed new blower belt at Middle Gordon Creek; installed new chain and adjusted floats at Defiance County Pump Station #1; changed a grinder pump on Road 171 and on Switzer Road. Greg reported billing out $59,246.74, collecting $58,133.21, and having expenses of $52,956.76 in February.
Morris Murray and Russ Herman, Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, met with the Commissioners to provide an update on various legal matters.
The Defiance County General Health District currently has funds available to upgrade and replace home sewage treatment systems. The funding levels are based on earned income, with up to 100% funding available. For more information, please contact the Defiance County Health Department at 419-784-3818.
Michael Hietz, Garrett, LLC.; Matt Wagner, TetraTech; Jerry Hayes, Defiance County Economic Development; Vickie Myers, Defiance County Treasurer; Jill Little, Defiance County Auditor; and Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, met with the Commissioners to discuss options to move forward with the cleanup and demolition of the SK Tools property.
