The Board of Defiance County Commissioners
met in regular session at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2017 in the in the
Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville, Ohio. Commissioner Ryan Mack
called the meeting to order. Also
present were Commissioners Gary Plotts and Mick Pocratsky, Sherry Carnahan,
Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and
approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The
Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming
meetings.
Per the
recommendation of Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, the Commissioners
awarded the bids for the 2017 Miscellaneous Concrete to
all of the bidders. It is the intent to purchase material from the lowest
bidder, but in the event of a scheduling problem the County can still get the
material required.
Mayor
Diane Collins, Mike Barth and Mike Bailey, Village of Hicksville, met with the
Commissioners to discuss various pending projects.
Jason Roehrig, Defiance County Soil &
Water Conservation District Administrator, met with the Commissioners to
provide a quarterly update. Jason informed the Board that the Kohout Extension was completed in early March by Ryan Nida
Excavating at a cost of $37,240.00. The Annual Tree Sale was completed this
week with 9,200 conservation trees and 160 fruit trees being sold. The Kids
Outdoor Science Camp is being held at 4H Camp Palmer on June 5-8. The 2017
Penney Nature Center Kids’ Camp is being held on June 13-15.
Angie Freese,
Hicksville Chamber of Commerce, met with the Commissioners to provide an
update. They are in the process of updating the banners downtown with a new
design, which was completed by Hicksville students. She stated that the Annual
Golf Outing is scheduled for Friday, July 14th at Eagle Rock in
Defiance.
The Commissioners’
Office recently received the March 2017
report from Cecilia Parsons, Defiance County Recorder. Cecilia the following
instruments being recorded: 178 deeds, 160
mortgages, 136 releases, 6
power of attorneys and 2 leases; this
compares to 162 deeds, 155
mortgages, 135 releases, 3
power of attorneys and 2 leases in March,
2016. There were receipts of $25,535.75, of which $12,485.00
went to the Housing Trust Fund and $10,650.75
went to the General Fund. This compares to receipts of $24,067.75
in March, 2016,
of which $11,672.50 went to the
Housing Trust Fund and $10,120.25
went to the General Fund.
