The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2017 in the Second Floor Conference Room of the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court Street, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Commissioner Ryan Mack called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Gary Plotts and Mick Pocratsky, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Jill Popp, Maximus, met with the Commissioners to provide an introduction and explain the services provided by Maximus.

 

The Commissioners met with officials from the City of Defiance for a monthly meeting. They discussed: the Veterans Cemetery project, the Zeller Property project, Land Banks, and held a brief executive session for property acquisition.

 

Kelly Lowry, CompManagement; and Julie Rittenhouse and Patty Ehlinger, Defiance County Public Safety Services, met with the Commissioners to provide an introduction and to explain the worker’s compensation system and services provided.

 

Jerry Sanders, Defiance County Fairboard, met with the Commissioners to provide an update. Jerry informed the Board that they are in the process of finalizing all the 2017 Defiance County Fair, which will be held August 19-26, 2017. Some events planned are: Harness racing, Drag races, Truck pulls, Parade of Bands, Cheerleading competition, Performances by 2 bands, and Helicopter rides.

 

The Commissioners recently received the Accumulated Revenue Report from the Defiance County Engineer. The accumulated revenue for 2017 is $1,057,335.58; this compares to 2016 accumulated revenue of $1,050,292.29.
