The Board of Defiance County Commissioners
met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017 in the
Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court Street, Defiance, Ohio 43512.
Commissioner Ryan Mack called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Gary Plotts
and Mick Pocratsky, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie
Metz, Clerk.
Lynn Lantz, Auglaize Village, met with the Commissioners
to inform them of Motorama XI. It is being held on Sunday, July 9th
from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. It is open to cars, trucks, motorcycles, or
anything motorized. All proceeds of the event will be dedicated to the 1950
Firehouse.
The Commissioners met in General Session and
approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The
Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming
meetings.
The Commissioners certified the May Solid
Waste Disposal Submittal Forms for the Landfill facilities. Defiance Township,
as the host government agency received $2,545.41. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources
(ODNR) also received $2,226.15 for the construction, & demolition debris
(C&DD) waste. Monthly (MSW) Disposal fees paid to the Ohio EPA for the
Defiance County Landfill was $35,091.83. The Four County Solid Waste District
received $12,930.48.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer met with the Commissioners to provide a weekly update
for the Engineer’s Office and the Landfill.
Jerry Hayes,
Defiance County Economic Development Director, met with the Commissioners to
provide a monthly update.
Greg Reinhart,
Defiance County Wastewater Operations, met with the Commissioners to provide a
monthly update. Greg reported the following being completed in May: cleaned
pump at Paulding County’s Auglaize River Sewer pump station #1; replaced fuse
on blower motor at Evansport Wastewater Treatment Plant; installed new pump
belts at Defiance County Auglaize River Sewer pump station #4; and jetted
plugged return sludge line at Evergreen Lane Office Complex. Greg reported
billing out $57,800.34, collecting $57,709.66, and having expenses of
$54,463.92 in May.
Amy Galbraith,
Defiance County Clerk of Courts, met with the Commissioners to introduce Shelly
Meyer, bookkeeper for the office. Amy informed the Board that Shelly is
currently a part-time employee, but will begin full-time employment July 1st.
She stated that Shelly has been completing the process to submit cases with
unpaid fees to the Attorney General’s Office for collections; she also will
assist the Title Department.
