The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017 in the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court Street, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Commissioner Ryan Mack called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Mick Pocratsky and Gary Plotts, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Julie Voll, Defiance County Family & Children First Coordinator, met with the Commissioners to provide a quarterly update.

 

Judge Schmenk and Alyson Hageman, Common Pleas Court; Judge Strausbaugh, Erin Speith and Lisa Linebrink, Probate/Juvenile Court; and Amy Galbraith, Clerk of Courts, met with the Commissioners to discuss the IT in the Courthouse. They submitted a proposal from a company to handle the IT for their departments. The Commissioners stated that they would like to wait until after the finances are reviewed from the first half of the year before they will commit to this expenditure. The group also discussed the management of the records at the Records Center. It was decided that these Elected Officials would begin handling the records for each of their own respective departments.

 

Mike Langham, Ed Foster and Dave Jones, Defiance County Parks Board, met with the Commissioners to provide an update. They informed the Board that they are attempting to have the debris removed from the boat dock at Pontiac Park.

 

Jim Harris, Wes Zweibel, and Chris Ferris, Brunersburg Water & Sewer Board, met with the Commissioners to discuss the Evansport waterline. The Brunersburg Water & Sewer Board is going to be working with an engineering firm for some upgrades to the Evansport waterline.

 

The Commissioners also attended the Defiance County Planning Commission meeting.
