The Board of
Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August
10, 2017 in the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court Street, Defiance, Ohio
43512. Commissioner Ryan Mack called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioner Mick Pocratsky,
Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.
The Commissioners
met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts
and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and
discussed upcoming meetings.
Ron Bower, Defiance
Development & Visitors Bureau, met with the Commissioners to introduce
himself and provide an update. He stated that one of his goals is to bring the
communities in the County together and involve all of them in the DDVB
activities.
Julie Rittenhouse,
Defiance County Public Safety Services’ Coordinator, met with the Commissioners
to provide a quarterly update. Julie reported that there were two hazmat
responses since May. She reported that there was $15,662.00 received for the
LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Committee) SERC (State
Emergency Response Commission) award, which is $2,011.00 less than was received
in 2016. She stated that this was less due to a couple businesses not
submitting a report. She stated that they received the final amount for the
EMPG (Emergency Management Performance Grant) for FY2016 in the amount of
$16,247.43.
