The Board of
Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November
6, 2017 in the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court Street, Defiance, Ohio
43512. Commissioner Ryan Mack called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioner Mick Pocratsky and
Gary Plotts, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz,
Clerk.
The Commissioners
met in General Session. They approved and signed various resolutions, contracts
and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and
discussed upcoming meetings.
The Commissioners approved
an agreement with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife
to provide free open hunting, fishing, trapping and wildlife viewing on a portion
of parcel number K140031001201. The adjacent parcel
number I130006000100 is also included principally for
access purposes off of State Route 15. This area will be referred to as “Western
Agreement Portion
of Oxbow Lake Wildlife Area”. (See attached map for the area included in this
agreement.) The agreement is effective for 40 years. The agreement grants the
authority for the Division of Wildlife to provide a wildlife management
program. Camping, open fires, horses, and any types of boats or watercraft are
not permitted in the Western Agreement Poriton of
Oxbow Lake Wildlife Area. The Division will patrol and enforce all Laws
applicable to the area included in the agreement.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide an update for
the Engineer’s Office and the Landfill. Warren reported that the culvert
replacement on Ney Williams Center Road is completed. Warren provided the Board
with the Accumulated Revenue Report for the Engineer’s Office. The accumulated
revenue for October was $366,177.51. Warren provided the monthly update for the
Landfill. He reported that in September there were sales of $411,628.78 from 49,023
cubic yards and 13,431.41 tons; this compares to sales of $371,142.34 from 43,538
cubic yards and 11,812.38 tons in September 2016.
Deb Kutzli met with the Commissioners to request assistance
with funding for the Annual Defiance, Ohio Pow Wow. The 2018 event is scheduled
for September 29-30, 2018 at Camp Lakota.
