The Board of Defiance
County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 26,
2018 in the in the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court Street, Defiance,
Ohio 43512. President Ryan Mack called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Gary Plotts
and Mick Pocratsky, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and
Stephanie Metz, Clerk.
The Commissioners met
in General Session; they approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and
documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
The Commissioners
awarded the bid for the Auglaize Village Barn Project to R.G. Zachrich
Construction, Inc. for the base bid and alternate #3 in the amount of
$100,676.00.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide a weekly update
for the Engineer’s Office and the Landfill. Warren informed the Board that the
crews are working on patching roads and a culvert replacement on Wonderly Road south
of Jericho Road for Mark Township Trustees.
Greg Reinhart and Jan
Rethmel, Defiance County Wastewater Operations, met with the Commissioners to
provide a monthly update. Greg reported the following items being completed in
January: primed and adjusted control levels on Paulding County’s Auglaize River
Sewer Pump Station #2; changed grinder pump on St. Rte. 637; changed grinder
pump on Oak Forest Dr.; replaced grinder on Ralston Ave.; pulled and cleaned
pump at the EMA; cleaned the floats on Auglaize River Sewer Pump Station #4;
pulled and cleaned Christy Pump Station pumps. Greg reported billing out
$64,620.54, collecting $69,409.55, and having expenses of $40,456.85 in
January.
Vickie Myers,
Defiance County Treasurer, met with the Commissioners and Jill Little, Defiance
County Auditor, to approve the issuance of $14,173.00 of bond anticipation
notes for the Flory Road Tile Project.
Morris Murray and
Russ Herman, Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, met with the
Commissioners to discuss various legal matters.
Jerry Hayes and Carla
Hinkle, Defiance County Economic Development, met with the Commissioners to
provide a monthly update. Carla informed the Board that there are currently 30
students scheduled for the Manufacturing Bus Tour on March 1st of
General Motors, Defiance Metal Products and B&B Molded. There are currently
25 students scheduled for the Manufacturing Bus Tour on March 5th of
Gordon Creek Granite, APT Manufacturing and Stoett Industries. Carla stated
that plans are also being made for two summer Manufacturing Camps in July.
