The Board of Defiance
County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 1,
2018 in the in the Hicksville Village Council Room in Hicksville, Ohio.
President Ryan Mack called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Gary Plotts
and Mick Pocratsky, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and
Stephanie Metz, Clerk.
The Commissioners met
in General Session and approved and signed various
resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the
calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.
The Commissioners
presented Joda Freese,
Hicksville Middle Schooler, with a proclamation to honor her achievement at the
National Amazing Shake Contest. The Amazing Shake is a competition that places
an emphasis on teaching students manners, discipline, respect and professional
conduct. Students are taught the skills needed to present themselves exceptionally
well for opportunities today as well as those that will come in the future. The
Ron Clark Academy held its first National Amazing Shake Competition for the top
130 students from district-level competitions from 17 states nationwide and the
country of Honduras. The Commissioners recognized her as a Hicksville Middle
School student who illustrates the traits of hard work, leadership, and
individual achievement and, by these traits, will always be a great ambassador
for the citizens of Defiance County, Ohio. The Commissioners congratulate Joda Freese for placing in the
Top 24 at the National Amazing Shake Competition, and wish her the best of luck
in all future endeavors.
