The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018 in the in the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court Street, Defiance, Ohio 43512. President Ryan Mack called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Gary Plotts and Mick Pocratsky, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session; they approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide a weekly update for the Engineer’s Office and the Landfill. Warren reported that paving and patching work continues. The concrete widening work by the contractor was completed on Watson Road, Fruit Ridge Road and Defiance Ayersville Pleasant Bend Road last week. They are currently working on The Bend Road and will move to Ney Williams Center Road next.

 

Gary Keys, Toledo Edison, met with the Commissioners to review the Customer Assistance Programs provided by Toledo Edison. Toledo Edison has several programs available to Ohio customers who are having difficulty paying the electric utility bills. These programs included Percentage of Income Payment Plan Plus (PIPP Plus), Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Summer Crisis (HEAP), Winter Crisis (HEAP), Ohio Partners for Affordable Energy (OPAE) Fuel Fund, Ohio Fuel Fund, Community Outreach Opportunity Program (Project Reach or Neighbors Helping Neighbors), Community Connections Program, Ohio’s Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP), and the Electric Partnership Plan (EPP). Bill Brandt, Customized Information Systems, LLC. met with the Commissioners to continue discussion on the RFP submitted for IT services.

 

Mike Burns and Robert W. Baird & Co., met with Vickie Myers, Defiance County Treasurer, and the Commissioners to review financing options for a possible renovation project for the first floor of the Commissioners’ Building. The Commissioners have not made a decision to move forward with this project.
