The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2018 in the in the Hicksville Village Council Room in Hicksville, Ohio. President Ryan Mack called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Gary Plotts and Mick Pocratsky, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

Prior to the meeting, the Commissioners met with Jerry Sanders and Lavon Wiles, Defiance County Fairboard, and Herb Retcher, Owen Schroeder, and Tom Breininger, Fair Foundation, to discuss the Veterans/Senior Citizens Pavilion Project. The plan is to have the following completed prior to the 2018 Fair: the existing concrete slab removed, sidewalks and a new concrete pad poured, and the new modular restroom unit (donated by the Fair Foundation) installed. The Commissioners plan to have the new pavilion built after the 2018 Fair. The plans are being finalized for the pavilion.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Jamie Gerken and Ron Clinger, Defiance County General Health District, met with the Commissioners and Mark Township Trustees (David Miller, Larry Hartman and John Panico) to provide an update on the Mark Center sewage issue. Ron Clinger provided the Board with the results of their study and possible solutions. The Commissioners requested the General Health District to provide a listing of options they recommend with possible costs. The Commissioners will proceed with the process of conducting an income survey of the area, which will be needed to obtain any grants for a future project.

 

The next Commissioners’ Lunch on the Road is scheduled for Friday, June 22nd from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Two Bandits Brewing Co. in Hicksville. The Commissioners encourage citizens to stop in to the event, as they have time, to discuss any questions or concerns they may have.
