The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 in the in the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court Street, Defiance, Ohio 43512. President Ryan Mack called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Mick Pocratsky and Gary Plotts, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session; they approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

The Commissioners held the annual ditch maintenance assessment meeting with Williams County Commissioners via teleconference. The Joint Board approved the 2019 ditch maintenance assessments for ditches maintained by both Defiance and Williams Counties.

The Defiance County Board of Commissioners is seeking applications of Defiance County residents interested in being appointed to the Citizen’s Advisory Committee for the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio (CCNO). This unpaid appointment is to fill an unexpired term, which expires on December 31, 2019. Application forms are available at www.defiance-county.com and at the Commissioners’ Office, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, OH from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. The Citizen’s Advisory Committee’s purpose is: To allow public input and furnish information about the physical plant and operations of the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio; To evaluate the operations at the CCNO and make recommendation for possible improvements; To make recommendations to local Community Corrections Planning Boards and officials on effective jail population management through the use of alternatives to incarceration programs; and To assist in publicizing the activities of the CCNO. The Committee usually holds meetings on a quarterly basis.

 

The Defiance County Board of Commissioners is seeking applications of Defiance County residents interested in being appointed to the Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention, Training and Rehabilitation District Board. This unpaid appointment is to fill an unexpired term, which expires on April 30, 2020. Application forms are available at www.defiance-county.com and at the Commissioners’ Office, 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, OH from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. The mission of the Northwest Ohio Juvenile, Detention, Training and Rehabilitation Center is to provide a safe and secure placement for delinquent youth. The Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention, Training and Rehabilitation District Board reviews and approves appropriate recommendations related to the Financial Overview of the Center, as well as the planning and ongoing maintenance of the Center. The District Board reviews and authorizes policies and procedures relating to the operations of the Center. The District Board meetings are held the second Tuesday Bi-monthly (meeting on the odd months – January, March, May, July, September, and November). Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed.
