The
Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on
Monday, August 6, 2018 in the in the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court
Street, Defiance, Ohio 43512. President Ryan Mack called the meeting to
order. Also present were Commissioner Mick
Pocratsky, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.
The
Commissioners met in General Session; they approved and signed various
resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the
calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.
The
Commissioners’ Office received notice that Defiance County was allocated
$550,116.61 from the State of Ohio to update the voting equipment. This amount
is approximately half of the original estimated cost of the necessary equipment
for Defiance County to provide voting services to the residents. The
Commissioners will be working with the Defiance County Board of Elections to
find the most economical and viable solution for the residents of the County
for the purchase of the new required voting equipment.
Warren
Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide a
weekly update for the Engineer’s Office and the Landfill. Warren reported that
they are widening Moser Road between Brandt Road and Nagel Road. They are also
working on the intersection of Highland Center Road/Fruit Ridge Road/Watson
Road in preparation of repaving.
Julie
Voll, Defiance County Family & Children First Coordinator, met with the
Commissioners to provide a quarterly update.
Morris
Murray, Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney, met with the Commissioners to
provide an update on various legal matters.
