The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 20, 2018 in the in the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court Street, Defiance, Ohio 43512. President Ryan Mack called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Mick Pocratsky and Gary Plotts, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session; they approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

The Commissioners will be holding their regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the County Building at the Defiance County Fairgrounds at 9:30 a.m. Also, there will be a meet and great for Defiance County Elected Officials on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Veterans/Senior Citizens’ Tent at the Fair.

 

The Commissioners discussed the MICHINDOH Aquifer and possible future resolutions. They are keeping abreast of the situation and monitoring it closely. They are researching options to obtain a geological study of the MICHINDOH Aquifer through USGS (United State Geological Survey).

 

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide a weekly update for the Engineer’s Office and the Landfill. Warren stated that this week the County plans to replace a culvert on Flory Road between Domersville Road and Carpenter Road. The contractor plans to pour the deck on the Watson Road Bridge on Wednesday, weather permitting.

 

Jerry Hayes and Carla Hinkle, Defiance County Economic Development Office, met with the Commissioners to provide an update.

 

Morris Murray and Russ Herman, Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, met with the Commissioners to provide an update on various legal matters.
