The
Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on
Monday, August 27, 2018 in the in the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court
Street, Defiance, Ohio 43512. President Ryan Mack called the meeting to
order. Also present were Commissioner
Gary Plotts, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.
The
Commissioners met in General Session; they approved and signed various
resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the
calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.
Warren
Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide a
weekly update for the Engineer’s Office and the Landfill. Warren reported that
a culvert is being replaced at the intersection of Canal Road and Ball Road.
Tonya
Wichman and Kim Smith, Defiance County Board of Elections, met with the
Commissioners to discuss the purchase of new voting equipment. They provided a
new quote for voting equipment. They were able to eliminate 10 machines and the
standard kiosks provided by the vendor from the original quote. The new amount
is $782,720; the amount Defiance County is to receive from the State for this
is approximately $550,000. They stated that the State is still negotiating with
the voting equipment vendors on pricing, so it is hoped that the purchase price
will decrease.
Morris
Murray and Russ Herman, Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, met with
the Commissioners and Defiance Township Trustees in executive session per ORC
121.22 (G) (3) Conferences with an attorney for the public body concerning
disputes involving the public body that are the subject of pending or imminent
court action.
