The
Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday,
October 11, 2018 in the in the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court Street,
Defiance, Ohio 43512. President Ryan Mack called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Mick
Pocratsky and Gary Plotts, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie
Metz, Clerk.
Sheriff
Engel met with the Commissioners to discuss a recent grant the Defiance County Sheriff’s
Office received for traffic control to reduce the number of traffic fatalities.
Defiance County received $35,074.95 for this grant.
The
Commissioners met in General Session; they approved and signed various
resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the
calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.
Ron
Cereghin, Defiance County Maintenance Supervisor, met with the Commissioners to
provide a monthly update.
The
Henry County Commissioners along with representatives from the Henry County Senior
Services and Henry County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office met with the
Commissioners and Tina Hiler, Defiance County Senior Services’ Director, to
discuss the operations of the Senior Services.
Dennis
Miller, Maumee Valley Planning Organization, met with the Commissioners to
discuss a grant that was recently received by Defiance County. Defiance County was
awarded the Pre Disaster Mitigation Gram for Fiscal Year 2017 in the amount of $571,572.75 for the Defiance County Safe
Room Project. The Boy Scouts of America will be contributing $190,524.25 in
local matching funds for the project. The Commissioners approved the grant
agreement for the project and designated Maumee Valley Planning Organization as
the Administrative Agent for the Project.
