The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018 in the in the Commissioners’ Session Room at 500 Court Street, Defiance, Ohio 43512. President Ryan Mack called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners Mick Pocratsky and Gary Plotts, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.
Sam Switzer, Switzer Real Estate, met with the Commissioners to discuss the sale of 622 Riverside Avenue.
The Commissioners met in General Session; they approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.
Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide a weekly update for the Engineer’s Office and the Landfill. Warren reported that Watson Road opened. CR 424 was closed from Clinton Street to Carpenter for shoulder widening. The pavement marking is scheduled to begin next week. Paving on Canal Road and at the Landfill is scheduled for the end of this week or the beginning of next week.
Bruce Clevenger and Teresa Johnson, Defiance County OSU Extension, met with the Commissioners to provide a quarterly update.
Jerry Hayes and Carla Hinkle, Defiance County Economic Development, met with the Commissioners to provide a monthly update.
Russ Herman, Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, met with the Commissioners to provide an update on various pending legal matters.
The Investment Advisory Committee of Vickie Myers (Defiance County Treasurer), Amy Galbraith (Defiance County Clerk of Courts) and the Commissioners met for the Third Quarter Investment Advisory Meeting. Ryan Nelson, Redtree Investment Group, and Warren Schlatter, Landfill Manager, also attended the meeting. The Defiance County Investment Portfolio, Landfill Closure Portfolio and Post Closure Portfolio were approved.
Randy Vogel, Defiance County Dog Warden, met with the Commissioners to provide a quarterly update.
