HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTES ARE HOUSEHOLD PRODUCTS THAT CAN CAUSE INJURY OR ARE HARMFUL IF NOT USED, STORED, OR DISPOSED OF PROPERLY.
These chemicals pose a threat to people (particularly children, refuse workers, and firemen) pets and our environment. Soil and water pollution can result from improper disposal of HHW. For your information: If you have Latex Paint, You can Dry it up! Latex paint is water soluble and can be dried out-converting it to a non-hazardous material. There are paint hardeners available in stores or you can mix the paint with cat litter, dirt, or sawdust. You may also leave the lid off your paint can to speed up the process. Simply place the dried paint/ mixture in your garbage bag and set it out with the regular trash.
If your business has hazardous material to dispose, please call the Ohio EPA at (419) 373-3059. Home Page Landfill Environmental Administrative
Volunteers are needed to make an event possible. The Defiance County Environmental Services and Johns Manville had volunteers also had 26 members of the Defiance College baseball team assist. The event was well staffed and VERY successful!
Thank you to all who contributed.
