School Resource Officers

In August of 2018, the Defiance County Sheriff's Office started a new program involving the Defiance County School Districts. The School Resource Officer Program is placing a uniformed, certified Deputy in the local school districts with complete cooperation by the individual school district.

The School Resource Officer (SRO) ensures a safe learning environment for all children and adults who enter the school campus, prevents and reduces potential harm related to incidents of school violence, and fosters a positive school climate based on respect for all children and adults in the school. The SRO will create partnerships with behavioral health and other care providers in the community for student and family referral.
